(BOWMANVILLE, ON) – Less than a half second separated first and second place as Quebec riders swept the top five positions of the 2019 Amateur Superbike Race on the 2.459 mile track at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on August 11.
The 20-rider field was topped by Samuel Guerin of Quebec City in 16:52.031 on the Aprilia RSV4RR. He was followed across the start/finish by Chambly’s Christian Allard with a gap of just 0.460 seconds.
Rounding out the top five were Guillaume Fortin (Blainville), Alex Cleary (St Jerome), and Pascal Bastien (Laval). Cracking the top ten at position 6 was Sarnia’s Steve McGregor on a BMW S1000RR, 33.642 seconds behind Guerin.
It was a photo-finish for the Mopar Canadian Superbike Championship on Sunday as well. Kenny Riedmann overcame a late challenge from Samuel Trepanier who had taken over the lead entering the final lap. A miscue allowed Riedmann to move in front of both Trepanier and Jordan Szoke by a hair to win with just 0.031 seconds separating the three riders. It was Riedmann’s second career Pro Superbike win.
