PGA Hopefuls To Play In LaSalle

(TORONTO, ON) – The 2018 Mackenzie Tour and PGA Tour Canada schedule was announced and will featuring 13 official tournaments from May to September, including an event at Ambassador Golf Club in LaSalle. There will also be a $25,000 increase for all tournament purses, as players compete to make the next step on the path to the PGA Tour.

Two new tournaments have been included this year, the Lethbridge Paradise Canyon Open, at Paradise Canyon Golf Resort in Lethbridge, AB, and the Windsor Championship from July 2 through 8 at Ambassador.

“We are delighted to share the 2018 schedule and the progress it represents with our largest number of tournaments yet and an increase in prize funds,” said Jeff Monday, the tour president. “We are so pleased with the accomplishments of our host organizations and our partnerships with sponsors, particularly our Umbrella Sponsor Mackenzie Investments, as we head into our sixth season.”

Tour players will look to make the next step on their path to the PGA Tour by leveraging their performances into advantages to reach the next level. The first step began at TPC Sawgrass, the first of five qualifying tournaments, as 132 players took to the Dye’s Valley Course to earn their status for the 2018 Mackenzie Tour.

One of the golfers to watch is Matt Hill, of Sarnia, the winner of the Mackenzie Tour Order of Merit in 2012, who has spent time on PGA Tour Latinoamérica and the Tour in recent years. The North Carolina State product was the author of one of the greatest seasons in collegiate golf history in 2009, when he won the NCAA Championship, seven other individual tournament titles, and the Jack Nicklaus Award as the country’s top collegiate golfer.

Following the completion of the season, tour players will compete against their peers from PGA Tour Latinoamérica in the Aruba Cup, taking place December 13 through 15, at Tierra del Sol Resort and Golf in Aruba.
