Saints Strengthen Strong Lineup
(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair women’s softball team is gearing up for another fall season with some new players who could help them compete for a Provincial and National Championship.
The 5’ 4” Jenna Hillman, from Tecumseh’s Vista Academy, is back home after playing two years at Humber in Etobicoke. Hillman is a career 0.410 hitter in the OCAA from the left side with good speed. She will use her slick fielding ability at second base or shortstop for the Saints. She’s a former baseball player who has competed at the Canada Games for Team Ontario.
Kim Moroun (6’ 0”) from Belle River, is another transfer of sorts, having played basketball at the University of Windsor and who contributed to two of their OUA and USports Championships.
The former Royal Arcanum winner is a gifted athlete in a variety of sports, but played softball for the Windsor Wildcats organization. She will play either first base, to utilize her height, or she can move to shortstop to showcase her strong arm.
Moroun will be a force at the plate, also hitting from both sides with the potential for a high average.
Windsor’s 5’ 7” Lauryn Schram, from St Joseph’s, will slip behind the dish for St Clair, giving depth to the catching position with her strong defensive skills. She recently won a Silver Medal at the Midget National Championships with the Windsor Wildcats.
St Clair begins the regular season with a 4-game road trip to Seneca on Saturday followed by a visit to the defending OCAA Champion Durham Lords on Sunday. The Saints remain on the road Wednesday at Fanshawe before coming home for a 6-game home stand, starting September 14 versus Mohawk at Mic Mac Park.
