Saints Take 3-Of-4 Over Weekend
(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair women’s softball team swept another doubleheader at Mic Mac Park with 8-1 and 10-0 wins over the Seneca Sting on Saturday. The Saints now lead the OCAA with a 12-2 record as they move past the halfway point of the season.
Pitcher Olivia Elliott picked up wins in both games, putting her at 6-2 this year. In the opener Elliott pitched 3 innings and gave up just 2 hits while striking out five. The Saints offense was alive early, scoring 2 runs in the first inning and a further 6 in the 2nd inning.
St Clair coasted from that point and only gave up a single run to Seneca in the final frame.
Belle River’s Kim Moroun, Jordan Taylor of LaSalle, and Michaela Rilett from Windsor each had 2 hits for the Saints with Taylor adding 2 RBIs.
Elliott picked up her 2nd win of the day after 4 innings of work, surrendering just 1 walk with no hits and 4 strikeouts. Rilett paced the Saints’ 13-hit attack with 3 of her own, including 2 doubles and 2 RBIs.
St Clair led 5-0 after three innings and added 5 more in the 5th for a mercy-shortened victory.
The Saints finished their home weekend by splitting a doubleheader today versus the Humber Hawks. In the first game, St Clair continued their winning way with a 7-6 win over the Hawks. Humber came back in game 2 by tripling the Saints 9-3.
Now 13-3 on the year, St Clair is 2 games ahead of the Durham Lords (10-4) and 3 in front of Humber. The Saints will face the Hawks in Etobicoke for a pair of games this coming Saturday. They’ll return home to Mic Mac Park to host Fanshawe for two on October 2. The first pitch is at 6pm.
